For this assignment, I selected an online community and observed the participants, their behavior, their reactions, interactions with other members. The goal here was to understand a digital phenomenon by entering an online community while staying separate from the observed activities.

For this assignment, I interviewed a friend of mine who comes from a different culture. I developed a series of formal questions that helped me gain deep insight into my interviewee’s background and perspectives.

Using field notes, I had to write a full observation of a CCNY class where I had to help the reader to see and understand the class environment, what happens during the class period, and my relationship.

The peer interview focused on using our notes to write a profile feature article about one aspect of my classmate’s personal life and was based on a conversation with that person.

The self-assessment essay is about showing how I’ve developed as a writer and what I have written as evidence. I will be referring to the works I’ve included in my portfolio. This essay will be about the extent to which I have achieved the course learning objectives and how my perceptions of writing have evolved throughout the semester.
